Our offices utilizes a dental laser when appropriate. We base our recommendations on the prevailing science. Many professionals will tout the "magical" treatment of dental lasers to treat routine periodontal disease. These procedures are usually much more costly than conventional periodontal therapy and are not generally accepted as a dependable treatment option and are thus not covered by dental insurance carriers. There is no available code to legally submit this type of treatment to an insurance carrier. Again, in looking out for the best interest of our patients, we will only suggeest therapy that we know to be effective and proven.
This laser is not a magic wand, there is still no absolute “cure” for periodontal disease. Conventional flap/osseous surgery is always recommeneded to our patients.
